source : WWW.WHITESWANFOUNDATION.ORG     by Aaheli Dasgupta

Diwali is a beautiful festival full of sparkle and shine and eating and merry-making Unfortunately, however, it is also a festival during which a lot of injuries are reported.

There are two major types of injury that are reported during Diwali
A: Burns
B: Injuries to the eyes

All precautions must be taken to ensure that these...... com/child-healthy-diwali/"> injuries do not happen – but it is also important to know what to do in case an injury happens

First aid in case of a burn -
If there is a burn whether major or minor,
step 1 is to clean the area with clean running water
So just place the burned area under clean running water
Step 2 is to apply an antiseptic ointment over the area and then cover it with a loose gauze dressing and
Step 3 is to transport the injured person to the hospital It is important to remember
1. Never to break any blisters
2. Never to apply ice to the burned area.
Applying ice seems like the right thing to do to counteract the heat from the burn – but it does more harm than good to the injured area
A burn is frightening – but it is important not to panic. Give the injured person first aid and take him to the hospital. Do not try to treat burns on your own.

First aid for injuries to the eye

Step 1 – Wash the eye immediately. Wash as much as possible with clean running water Remember never to rub the eye or press it.

Step 2 – Close the eye with a light bandage to protect it from light or just hold a handkerchief in the hand and cover the eye.Immediately consult a doctor

Never delay in case of an eye injury. You get only one pair of eyes for your whole life Before you start celebrating any festival make sure you have taken the adequate precautions to ensure that you remain safe.

Stay safe. Take care.
